We can confirm that Saturday’s game vs Southport will not go ahead…
Southport have today informed the National League that they do not intend to fulfill the fixture.
The Sandgrounders have previously expressed concerns over player, staff, and volunteer safety, highlighting the lack of testing within the National League. Liam Watson’s side has also reported concerns over the financial implications of clubs continuing to play without grant funding in place.
Their planned game on Tuesday vs Curzon Ashton was postponed.
As previously reported, we ourselves are prepared to continue playing as we wait for the outcome of the vote to determine whether or not the season will continue, however, we fully appreciate that other clubs may not be in a position to do the same.
We understand and respect the decision made by Southport not to play and we wish them well during these unprecedented times.

People talk about the last World Cup how we were poor in both Belgium games and lost the nerve in the Croatia semi but seemingly forget that in 1990 we just about scraped it out of the group stage after poor performances against Ireland and Egypt and were seconds from penalties in the last 16 against Belgium and got outclassed by Italy in the 3rd place match
Same with Euro 96, poor against Switzerland and only finished Scotland off after a counter from a missed pen while the Spain qf was one of the worst games of the entire tournament

When you lose the semi, you are out that's it - third place is like next season's charity shield - an afterthought forgotten as soon as the final whistle blows
I honestly couldn't have cared win or lose even by as much as 26-0, it just didn't matter we were knocked out and finishing third wouldn't change that, it didn't matter then and never has since.
We didn't go to finish third.
