It’s not quite true that Everton’s Christmas fixture list isn’t heavier than normal cos you already have the extra cup game against Man U two days before Christmas.
Add in the semi final (and if you draw Spurs or Stoke a possible final) and you would then be wishing you could have gave some players a bit more of a rest.

We kind of are though because we are still in the League Cup which is an extra game in December and if we win it will be an extra one right at the end of the New Year's period. So we are feeling it a bit over that stretch. But I still don't want 5 subs.

I think people are underestimating how close 5 subs gets to fundamentally altering how football is played.

I agree. Upsets over the Sky 6 will be far fewer as they will have the ability to transform a losing team from the bench. This is why it will certainly happen.
