Would prefer to see trezeguet booked tbh. Was an embarrassing dive. Players trained to lash themselves to the floor if they feel anything.
Yeah he was way too theatrical. But if you stay on your feet you don’t get the foul as has been shown in other recent games

Unfortunately so, yes.

For people saying "but he got the man!" - is the defender supposed to make his leg disappear after winning the ball? Never a penalty, unless you're Liverpool, United or Leicester.
People say this but it isn't really an argument. If you can't make the tackle successfully without getting a significant amount of the man then you don't need to make anything disappear you just need to not make the tackle and if you do it is a foul.

The problem for me is saying he "wins" the ball is wrong as he's wound up to really hack it and we're letting him "win" it by having a little slice while most of his force is into the shins of the opponent. Getting the ball doesn't immediately make it not a foul and that's just my feeling here.
The thing for me is that he moves his foot out to the side to get a touch on the ball and not swinging it out in front of him and so I don’t think there was that much force when he caught him on the follow through and for me not enough to warrant it as a penalty. If he’d swing his leg out in front of him and caught him that way, then yes I’d be inclined to say that’s a foul regardless of whether he won the ball.

What’s strange is that VAR overturned it with clear contact. Makes you wonder what in world they am were looking at with Keane last year vs Brighton

and on this one, if it’s not a penalty, then for sure he needs to get a yellow for making the contact look like the defender took a baseball bat to his shin
