You can only sigh and laugh when you see Allan given a straight red card for serious foul play for a challenge that is a yellow card in every single game for just purposely breaking up a counter attack, then watch McTominay of United reluctantly given a yellow card for a horrible potential leg breaking lunge yesterday. Talk about having the cards stacked against you.
You'll notice how much quicker the VAR checks are resolved for the bigger teams as well. The commentator yesterday said pretty much instantly that VAR won't be upgrading it to a red card. And then for the goal they gave it a good few minutes to microanalyse it

Agree 100% mate. That's the difference between Everton and the Sky6 teams, one gets a red and a 3 match ban, the other gets a grudging yellow from the ref. While I really fear relegation due to the possible ramifications it might involve for us as a club long-term, I bloody hate the Premier League and everything about it.

Yep. I was waiting to see what they said about the tackle. Neither shown nor mentioned...

Also, the penalty given to Aston Villa. It was a collision, no tackle involved, yet the VAR operator agreed it was a penalty. Jeez...
I've just seen that on Youtube. The Wolves keeper didn't move a muscle, the Villa player nicked the ball from in front of the keeper and then ran into him. No possible way was that a penalty. Referees are getting worse every game.

It's a pity none of these hordes of football journalists/football show producers and their vast number of researchers cant come up with a programme about the unfair and very damaging aspects of VAR.

They could enlarge upon the too many inconsistent factors to it and in the end, why is it still subject to a particular judgement with clearly inconsistent results as with Allan/McTominay et al.

They won't though as it would have damaging repercussions for themselves from the big timers.

Ta.

That’s the first time I’ve seen it and obviously I’m now coming into this with a view already influenced by the comments of others, rather than seeing it at the time, but for me the comparisons with Allen are off the mark because this is a challenge for the ball, rather than - let’s be honest - what was a cynical hack.

The comparison Redknapp made with the Kane challenge vs the RS is a better one, but also Pogba vs the RS when he did get a red card.

I don’t think Allen should’ve been red carded unless the ref sent him off as his first judgement (ie stick with the decision) and I’d probably say the same here.

He could have walked for it, and had he, it shouldn’t be downgraded, but if the refs given a yellow I think that should stand.

What gets lost in this though is how the ref has officiated the rest of the game. Was he letting challenges go or blowing up for anything? Was he giving soft yellows elsewhere or not?

If there's no consistency from Ref to Ref then, clubs may as well employ a Referee Scrutineer and thereby watch previous matches of their next Referee. They would then see how he sees fouls etc and interprets their punishment.

And I'm only half kiddin about this farce.

It happens in the NFL.

They know which “crew” is in place and how they call penalties, and adjust accordingly,
