Remember when that volcano erupted and they could only get 20 odd thousand in the stadium because the tourists couldn't come
They all stopped going to Anfield when Woy was in charge. I think it’s bad with a lot of lads but mainly girls in this city that do it for me. haven’t got a clue about footy but love jumping on the bandwagon like they have been big red fans forever

Exactly mate, you’ve got to remember that people wanted us to lose against Chelsea in November.

We are on 2 planets. We need to concentrate on ourselves, take this togetherness and the home and away support into next season and keep everything positive.
Don't get me wrong, I hate losing to them. I still can't take it after 20 odd years. But other than our games, I just dont care anymore.

They are really good and thats not going to change any time soon. I dont have enough energy in my body to stress about them as well as ourselves.

We narrow the gap by sorting out our own problems and making smart strategic decisions over a number of years.

We are currently in a relegation fight. Its totally irrational to demand right now that we be their equal.

We need to stay up, then gradually improve. What they do should have no impact on that. We need to be completely focused on ourselves.

Exactly however its ludicrous to suggest a club simply forgets the behemoth sat literally 5 minutes away in the same city.

The Merseyside rivalry is one of the greatest in the history of football and for all the hipsters who say "forget it lads they dont matter to us" can GTF for me.

We need to have aspirations to become "the" top dog in the city - that may take years but that has to be the aim. Start with actually winning Derby games then playing in europe and eventually getting to cup semi's and finals more than once in a blue moon.

You should always have aspirations to be the best. I'm sure Lampard has those long term aspirations.

But hoping they lose every week, stressing ourselves out about them, and judging ourselves only against them is a sure fire way to not maximise your own potential.

That'll come with time. The stadium will be the difference. Not immediately but over the coming years, when the money starts to come in, when the big concerts are on and super bands are playing in the stadium on the Mersey, when massive boxing matches are being staged there because the views will be immense.

Horrible that I'll never see us winning anything in my lifetime. Just hoping we don't go down LOL.
Mate it felt like we were doomed in 93/94. Then we won the FA Cup in 95. All the kopites I knew back then were making fun that we were "going down". The media said we wouldn't beat Newcastle, we couldn't beat Spurs, Man Utd were absolute nailed on to win. It all just came together.

100% mate and the club has to match that improvement off the pitch on it. We shouldn't however pretend the RS dont matter as they do, always have and always will.

They should be the one club that pushes us to be the best we can be.

It’s not hipster to just ignore them and let them plod on, anyone who lets them consume every waking thought can get in the bin, especially when our own issues get ignored

Born in 88 and in my life time even when we have finished above them it still hasn’t felt like we were top dogs. The way the game is going I can’t see us ever being considered superior than them. They are one of the money teams in the league and darlings in the media’s eyes. Doesn’t mean we should pack it in but I can’t see it happening, each year that passes the top teams get more and more protection to keep their positions at the top.

Yeah unless the rules RE FFP change I cant see us doing what City have done in Manchester unless the issues in Ukraine simmer down and USM come back on board inflating our sponsers to keep propping us up.

But nothing stopping us from being able to move to BMD, build a good young fit side and try fluke the odd cup or bloody their noses in the derby.

I remember a few Derby games under Moyes and Martinez where we went in as favourites.

This season has at least focused minds and rammed home the fact they are currently an irrelevance to us. Rivalries are supposed to be competitive. They are not our rivals.

Yeah it would be fun if they started losing every week. But thats not going to happen and the obsession with them is holding ourselves back.
We of beaten then had the Ref actually Ref the game, they have 2 red cards and a pen to us

Absolutely. It's like sibling rivalry. I just try my best not to show that any of it gets to me. When my kopite mate rings me later, he hasn't called me for 2 weeks but he'll definitely ring later, to gloat then I have already prepared what I'm going to say. I'm going to tell him my dog has got fleas again and I didn't watch the game because I've been bathing the dog in flea shampoo. Then I'll tell him how many dead fleas I found in the bath and explain to him the entire life cycle of a flea.

I do this to my wife too when she starts harping on about celebrity nonsense. I'll go into immense detail about the water pressure in the boiler or how the acid content of top soil affects the colour of our hydrangeas. Works every time mate.
