It’s weird. On one hand you want to say Southgate is wasting a golden generation with the negative lineups and tactics but he’s also got us to a final and a semi so feels wrong to criticise.

The new "golden generation" of English players that won all the tournaments at youth level aren't even in their mid-20s yet, so a bit of an exagerration to say they're being wasted IMO

You can’t really say he doesn’t beat big sides and then downplay beating Germany who are a big side. You can only get past what’s in front of you. I, like any normal Englishman, was very happy to see an easier path to glory.
