I don't think the player has any legal recourse against us to be honest

I'm sure we followed appropriate procedures and were in regular contact with the players union during the course of it to ensure the players' rights weren't impugned unfairly

he's chatting bubbles

he would have been on full pay whilst suspended, club had every right to suspend him whilst he was under investigation by the police

no case to answer

everyone just moves on with their lives
Think so too tbh - not like we accused him falsely and supplied fake evidence or whatever has happened. The statement was and always has been one of support if nothing else.

But it would also be very Everton to get sued and somehow lose a non-case so...

Didn't we remove him from the squad?

Also known as the 'Reverse Thomas Partey Manoeuvre'
We removed a player who was under house arrest/AWOL, no idea if we stopped paying him and when obviously, no one knows.

Fairly sure this is standard procedure for any employer, footballer or not, to remove the accused off the 'workforce' until it's cleared. It's taken several years tho.

Not for Arsenal apparently - As the current situation suggests as well as the past (Robin Van Persie)

Is every single situation of something happening exactly the same?
RVP got detained in the NL, was named instantly, everything was quite quick IIRC as he admitted to taking the, uh, companion to the hotel and denying the rape, for which there was no proof.

[Unnamed player] was under house arrest, no one can say his name as if he's some Voldemort-type and had to prove his innocence which has taken ages at this point in a pedophilia case where everything was kept silent. Yes, the club chooses what to do, but should've we not done exactly what we did - take our distance until it's resolved?

It's taken him several years to prove his innocence too (and hasn't 100% yet, right?), so it's a rare W for us as far as what we've done.

Outside of football you would be paid and then also go back to your role afterwards.

He’s lost future earnings, which he shouldn’t have.

1) not in every situation, you should be aware of that.
2) so I take it you're 100% sure and know he was not paid a penny by us during the 1 year he should've played? His contract ran out in '22, he got suspended during the summer in '21.

It's like people actively want us to be the worst in every situation lol

I'm not arguing with you at all - The club did the right thing in the situation

It's the situation that is all wrong - Why was the case made public in any way? His life has been ruined and he will forever have a stain on his character

Well, realistically, it wasn't, as he's still not named in the UK. Icelandic media absolutely ruined him though.
