There was a tradition in the Czech Republic to get behind the club teams regardless of who you supported.Listening to talk sport this morning (no idea why I had it on, think was trying to find match updates yesterday).
Talking about whether English fans should be backing Man City and (not sure who) said that no, we shouldn’t expect Liverpool or Man U fans to want them to win because there is nothing English about Man City, aside from 2 players yet implying there is about Liverpool and united.
I get it, but there’s nothing English about Liverpool or man united either in that case as Liverpool only had 2 English players start on Sat with 3 on the bench and man united had 3 start with 4 on the bench.
That's been on the way out for a number of years. Possibly as a correlation between the financial rewards for a CL group stage participation and the subsequent distortion of the local competition here.
I can't recall ever wanting an English team to do well in the CL. I often find myself rooting for the English teams in the Europa though.
