Today’s Football - 2024/25 Season

Out in Portugal, watching Venezuela v Argentina in a bar. Game delayed 30 mins due to rain. Absolutely crazy scenes on the pitch, Messi and everyone splashing about in a swamp.

Argentina lead 1-0, Rondon hasn’t had a sniff, but has done some superb mud wallowing belly flops.

I’d be amazed if this goes the full 90 mins, or someone doesn’t get seriously hurt.
Jeez, 1-1, Rondon scored. I gave up at half time when most of the players were wading through a paddy field. We obviously didn’t water the pitch enough.

Players are just playing too many matches and you could see it in the England performance. Even if it's not a question of it being a physical issue, these players are struggling to get themselves up for matches it seems when it comes round to the international break.

Its really time the whole football calendar was revamped because 3 international breaks before December is ludicrous and I don't think anyone wants it.

How u guys actually felt about the line up?
It was worth a try but I don't think some of those players can play together and I hope we don't end up back in Sven style scenario where its square pegs in round holes again. I don't think you can have Bellingham and Foden and Palmer, just pick one and play them in the middle. For me it would be Palmer, Foden has never done much for England and as good as Bellingham is, when you focus in on him he is so desperate to be the main man at times he gets in the way of teammates who are in better spaces and at times it disrupts the flow, It would be Gordon, Palmer, Saka behind a striker for me.

It‘s probably also a question of opponent. Rice and Bellingham are probably fix. Want to play Gallagher or Wharton to gain more stability or foden or palmer. Gorden/saka

Watkins or kane.

I generally don't care about international footy, but I actually don't mind an England manager using these glorified friendlies to have a tinker and see what works. That dire Southgate footy wasn't getting the best out of the players, so worth moving things around and seeing what does. We can now safely rule out whatever that crap was last night.
