He was excellent v Fulham and I think after 45 mins Emery just wanted us to have a different player in the middle of the park as Bologna were never going to try and play through the middle. So, he chose to bring on a more ball plying midfielder in Barkley. When you also have Kamara looking to get some minutes in and McGinn, Tielemans, Ramsey, Buendia (who will be gone in Jan I reckon), Rogers its a current embarrassment of riches and we're lucky to be able to chop and change to suit a game.

Now I've said that it'll go all Pete Tong again and we'll not win in the next 10 or so.

You obviously see more of Villa than I do so if you say he is doing well for you that's fair enough.
I can only judge on his performances for Everton last year and what I have seen on tv this year for you.
I think that he was half as good a player as he thinks he is he would be a world beater. Don't be fooled by the chest beating in front of the Holte end after the end of the game if things start to go wrong and he gets another offer from a sky six side he will be off like a shot.
All that said I wish you all the best for the season and think you have a good chance of third place ,you have a better manager and a better balanced squad than Arsenal.
 
You may be right - him being off if he gets a better offer - the good thing for us is with the contract he's on means that a better offer will also mean a bid of £55m+ and that Villa have excelled again. Win win.

maybe, but nothing to suggests he's going anywhere for a good few seasons yet. I'm sure we'll be able to eek out at least one League Cup in that time and the balance sheet will still be very much in favour when he does decide he wants a new challenge.
