Something is seriously wrong at United for the past few years

None of us can truly say what is or isn't wrong, as we aren't involved, but my suspicion is a club that's become a victim to its own financial and historical downfall.

They have a huge fan base and a huge draw financially, however the owners have focused more on this rather than ensuring the football side is the priority.

Over and over again, they've spent big money on players who really don't cut the mustard, which like us leaves them burdened with their wages as @Vintage said.

The only issue is they've had the finances to keep splashing cash at it, which has meant they really haven't had to change their ways. It's let apathy set in.

Old Trafford is a dump, Carrington is not the stellar training complex it once was (I've been, so believe me) and their squad is soulless and full of mediocrity.

INEOS have come in and appear to be trying to shed the excess, but this is going to be a very uncomfortable thing and may not fix it, any time soon.
