Today’s Football - 2024/25 Season

Bellingham is going to be a problem for Madrid and for England. Unless he’s given a completely free role off the striker just to run around and get on the end of stuff I don’t know what he does. He’s extremely average when he drops deeper. Madrid were better last season when he was playing as a false 9 before Mbappe arrived

I think Mbappe is a huge issue too - isn’t a striker really, too egotistical to play wide right, and Vini Jr is a better player than him on the left

He's pretty important to them tbh, creates a lot, most of their play goes through him. Madrid have just been in bad form for a few months now.

13 goals and 13 assists for the season is pretty good. It's a goal contribution every other game, given he's been playing further back all season he's done fine imo.

They need someone to replace Modric/Kroos role.

Carlo should have kept the team as it was last season and just picked one of Rodrygo or Mbappe for the right wing forward. Mbappe probably has some demands to play down the middle though but it’s unbalanced the whole team. Madrid might be in for some tough years once Modric goes. They relied on him and Kroos for years to always have the best midfield. Bellingham Tchouameni Valverde just aren’t as good.

He’s a Gerrard or Lampard type for me. Will always have good stats, and will have big moments, but I don’t think he makes the team play better unless you build the whole side around him. I’d take a Modric, Kroos, Xavi, Pirlo, Scholes type any day over a Bellingham
