Hamburg facing relegation here. Always puzzled me how awful they've been in recent seasons. Surely they're up there with Dortmund fighting it out for the 2nd biggest club in Germany?

LOL @ Rangers

Hamburg level, they were in this relegation play off last year too I think ?

Wouldn't them two legs be an absolute nightmare for supporters, nerves be shot.

This is splendid viewing. Reminds me of the rugby championship play off final in that there's another leg but both sides are going for it hell for leather.

Copa Libertadore action... my local side, Club Guarani managed a 0-0 draw with Racing out of Buenos Aires to advance to the Semifinals. Farthest the team has ever gone, afaik... by a round or two.

They have a suspect defense, to put it nicely, but held Corinthians out of Sao Paolo and Racing, from Buenos Aires, to zero goals over four matches.

A Paraguayan David is on the warpath, collecting Goliath scalps.

Best I can think of for comparison's sake is imagine the Netherlands or Belgium's Everton, a team "punching above it's weight" advancing to the semifinals of the Champions League.

Gonna organize every muthatruckin' Gringo, Euro, Norte in Paraguay to plunk down the whopping $10 to buy seats and support the Aurinegro (Gold & Black) vs River Plate... perhaps the biggest Goliath they have yet to face.

Un. Freaking. Real. The team, in a match with critical league title implications surrendered three goals to the Paraguayan Aston Villa (insert other 15th position dweller here) has held Corinthians and Racing scoreless over four freaking matches.

Sign Aguilar, Bill. NOW.

And yes, yes I am drunk. To paraphrase Gerry D, "Tight match. Very very beer."
