Don't think it works that way. I think if City won the CL and Liverpool win the EL and United finished fourth, United would be booted. Max 5 teams from one domestic league in CL.

I don't think there is a maximum.

If an English team won the CL but finished out of the top four and if another English team won the EL and finished outside the top four, I am pretty sure we would have six teams in the CL.

I might be wrong but looks like 5 is the max?

So I suppose in the event of two English teams winning the two European trophies and finishing outside the top four the 4th placed team would lose out.
