Does Barkley score any goals nowadays that aren't in the 6 yard box? His first for Chelsea was from the goaline, the one against utd not much further out and now this one.

The only ones who really played a part in the World Cup from outside the "Big 6" were Vardy, Maguire and Pickford. I think that narrative is a bit overblown. What he has done is not let the media force him into playing a system or style that he doesn't want to do. But he's still picking from the big boys as much as possible.

Mostly. But my original point was Barkley was just as good for us and never got to play and we were every bit as good as the current Chelsea team during those seasons. He hasn't been better at Chelsea than he was in the first Koeman season for example but now he's an England regular. To me not actually evaluating players but just where they play isn't a good system. I will admit Southgate is less prone to this than prior managers.

Played well in the first half against us without pulling up any tree's, faded in the second half when Gomes stepped up to the plate and was rightly hooked. Played very well for England tonight though, but you could swear by that commentators comments that Ross scored that direct from a free kick. lol. Fine header from Keane got no credit at all.
