Are they going to VAR every flipping goal? Surely it should only be for contentious decisions?

If the VAR operator is checking them quickly and only alerting the referee if something looks close that doesn’t seem like a problem. NFL automatically reviews all scoring plays and turnovers and gives an all clear to the referee after about 15 seconds if they’re obviously legit. Doesn’t slow down the game at all, the players are still celebrating the play by the time it’s done.

He won the George Best award for Break through of the year at the northern ireland sports awards last night. Then this story broke on social media about 10pm. You couldn't make this stuff up.

The video is actually worse than you'd imagine!

I have seen it and it shocked me in its lewdness.

A real moment of madness from someone who has always seemed very level headed and grounded.

He worked really hard to get his move from the Irish league into league 1 and full time football, and he very nearly threw it all away on a night out. He's a lucky boy but he's been humiliated publicly and that's probably a big enough punishment.

I honestly don't care if VAR gives football a higher percentage of correct decisions, it's a spectator driven game, and VAR will take away that moment of euphoria when your team scores a goal

.... Or, it gives you two chances to celebrate? No different really to celebrating an offside goal early. If the euphoria wasn't deserved then its not good for most spectators anyway.

That doesn't make any sense, you can't replicate that feeling after ten replays, and spectators only care about justice when it benefits us. I've watched enough cricket and rugby to know these systems can be effective, I also know I preferred watching these sports before the systems were implemented, this is probably a minority view, but there you have it

Funny you say that as can see Derby being above us this time next year

I can see them still being in the championship, they're on a mini slump now and only just in the last play-off place.

Bristol City's promotion campaign was smashed to pieces last season almost in sync with the further they got in the league cup (the semis), so extra games, quick turnaround, possible injuries and less preparation can harm a team's chances too.

They really have their work cut out to be promoted and automatic promotion looks likely to be beyond them. Leeds outclassed them home and away, but then there's Bielsa.

lol
