Today's Football - 2023/2024 Season

Without VAR they'd be in the final though. The human error aspect of it was part of the thrill and excitement of football. VAR has ruined all that imo.
Mate I’m not disagreeing with you on that, I’ve always stated I hate VAR, but it’s here now and it’s getting used, and yesterday it was used to make the correct call on a very tight decision.

Something that was brought in to help the game has absolutely robbed Coventry of a final they deserved to be in, but no, it was against Man U so the establishment can’t be having that. Absolutey disgraceful.
So you want var to ignore the offside so Coventry can get to a final ? I get it, they played well and deserved a bit of luck but offside is offside 🤷‍♂️

Var has killed the game, with the totally cack handed implementation of it, especially around offsides.

I detest it.

Does the automated version still give toenails offside as well?

There will always be a limit at which onside becomes offside, which means there will always be complaints about it killing the game. As long as they can reliably show a player was offside, even if by a mm, then I don't have a problem with it. Where I am dubious with var at the moment is that it is a (corrupt/incompetent) person drawing the lines. Hopefully automation removes that argument.

From what I’ve seen the automated one is slightly better - the comical farce they pull when drawing the lines and deciding what frame of film to start from does my head in, and is totally open to bias like you say.

They weren’t robbed though were they… the correct call was made on a very tight decision. Offside is offside unfortunately for them.
The problem is the images they go off aren't 100% accurate. It doesn't have the same accuracy as a photofinish in athletics, cycling, swimming etc. They could have frozen the image a fraction of a second earlier, that could have shown him onside and you'd be none the wiser. The problem with this, and VAR in general, is that it can engineer the decision they want. Tight calls like this are clearly within a margin of error and the only way to resolve it is with an on field decision like cricket.
