Yeh, the recruitment. They’re bang average some of them. A club the size of United’s shouldn’t be using players like Antony, Lindelof, Martial etc.

Ferguson took a while to fashion them as nigh unbeatable, and he had his man on the pitch to look after the troops. There's not a midfielder in there that can hold a candle to Roy Keane. If you want a good side and for them to follow orders you either find a maradonna type and make him captain or you get a warrior and make him captain and then start doling out the bolloxings. To many precious types, phoning it in, there's to many fair weather players in there atm, it's easy when everyones playing well and the games going your way, fighting it out and showing some steel is another matter. You've got to want it. Nothing is as burning as self motivation. Ferguson knew who really wanted to turn up and play and win.

They have an abundance of wide players who quite simply don’t put a shift in: far too many soft players, who won’t track back or get stuck in.

Maguire, Evans and Lindeloff are a recipe for disaster too.

And they only qualified for that competition because of the bizarre rule at the time that only club from one city could qualify for the tournament.
Liverpool,Leeds and Chelsea qualified and Everton(finished 5th),Spurs and Arsenal all missed out under the rule and Newcastle were offered the place…they finished 10th in the league in 67-68!!
