To be fair on Mido though, he had his eye on the ball and could'nt have seen the Arsenal player he ended up kicking in the boat race, it was only for the fact that the rest of the Arsenal players surrounded the referee and the sight of blood that persuaded him to send Mido off, definetly an accident.

if such a penalty was brought in, i could only see it being used once.
 
Maybe im a pessimist (in fact, i am) but after todays results, im now looking at teams like Man City and even Blackburn/West Ham with some degree of concern. A couple more wins soon and we should pull clear but its not inconceivable they could catch us....

What happened to the old days where it was the captain and the captain alone who would talk to the referee?

I think that it should be an automatic yellow for any player who addresses the referee without being spoken to first.
