I think next season you'll bounce back into the upper echelons. You have a very good nucleus of young players who look like they can become stars.

Interesting to see who gets sold this summer though and what fees they fetch with everyone knowing you need to sell.

Hopefully Everton take a bite of Hall, Chukwuemela and Colwill...along with any other young players that wont get a chance now.
Chelsea can't afford to sell Chukwuemeka. It would be too much of a loss on their accounts. The players that will leave Chelsea in the transfer window are the home grown players that don't have a large amortisation writedown upon selling.

You must be joking. He is far from past his best.
He's been the best footballer in the PL by a country mile for 3 or 4 years now. The standards he has set are the reason he doesn't look like he's played well all season (bar the past month). This season's he's playing like an average PL player. He could play for most teams playing like this.

They get knocked down but they get up again, you're never gonna keep them down.

£15mil probably FFP would mean £12.5mil sale price.

Wages off the books etc.

He's small fry compared to some of the others they've signed. I doubt they'd be bothered about having to sell him at a small loss if it helps them meet the financial limits required. Undoubtedly there's a potentially future great player there, but his decisions on leaving Villa and joining Chelsea makes me think he's either got a money grabbing agent controlling him, or he's too interested in money versus career. Both unlikely to be attractive to interested clubs.

At that age he'll have been sold the dream and of course been made a millionaire.

For the money on offer and one injury away from retirement its must be a challenging decision.

I get the one injury away from retirement idea, but there's many fields of work outside sport where people live with the knowledge that it only takes one accident for them to have to find some other way of making a living. A ex-mechanic I know for instance had an accident where one of his hands was crushed, so he's no longer a mechanic. All PL players are insured to the hilt by clubs, so if something like that happened, they'd be well looked after.

Becoming part of Chelsea's cyclical loan army and/or becoming their next Gilmour/Ampadu/Bakayoko seems to me to be as much if not more a career risk than any injury. A highly paid career risk granted.
