Painfully average. He was worth getting though, just to pish Villa off. Probably makes sense from a business viewpoint as well, and Gibson, Osman and Pienaar will all be off next year too. Makes sense to bring him in on a free.

Pretty shocked in the speed in which we have done this deal, it all seems very un-Everton like.

Probably down to the player himself. He knew we were after him, and he won't have wanted to sit around waiting to sign his next contract. He will have wanted a contract done before there was any chance of not passing a medical. Not that there's any reason to think he won't be fit for the foreseeable. However, he had 25 days left on his contract, he won't have wanted to take any chances.
