Then take the keeper off and put a striker on. Olsen’s never going to score or create a goal. It’s about how the team as a whole functions. It’s why it was maddening when Silva would just stick on 4 strikers on at once hoping to get a goal.

Why are you so obsessed with defending a really bad performance? Let it go. He was poor.

I’m not giving up my point that it was a poor decision to take him of. More than half the fans on here have him motm despite playing 50 minutes. Not a great performance by any stretch of the imagination, but it was by far and away our best performance, so it’s ludicrous to take him off.

Wasn't great, but nowhere near the worst of them, for me.

He's not there to set the tempo and lead by example because he's not a very good player, so when the others don't show up, we can't really pin it on Davies.

Ludricrous to take him off is when we're dominating a game and end up losing. As it happens, we got legged everywhere by a team in the relegation zone.

Tom Davies is not a hill to die on as a few of his new super fans are probably going to find out over the next few months.

He was never afraid to get on the ball and showed good strength and composure when he did. Looked to play forward at every opportunity.

Mindblown that he was the one taken off.

Id have rather we'd have pulled Doucoure back into the centre...taken off Sigurdsson, Gomes and James (yep all 3) and brought on Mina, King and Iwobi.

When he came off there was no defensive player in the centre (doucoure kept going wide) and Gomes/sigurdsson were statues.

3 decent games in a row from Davies.

There were a lot of candidates to be taken off today but Carlo chose the easy option. Gylfi, Gomes or James should have been hooked at half time. Probably all 3 tbh.

We were pretty poor whole match, Tom for me was one of the better of a poor bunch , but when you’re 1-0 down at home bringing on King to replace him made sense as his strengths are not in going forward to create or score goals. You have to say we didn’t improve afterwards though and they ripped us apart for the second .
