I enjoy reading Macintosh as he has a huge soft spot for Everton, especially Hibbert, and unlike many reporters actually knows details about the club and its history.

But it was the performance of Davies, nephew of former Everton player Alan Whittle, that made this a special day on Merseyside. Just 18, he was composed and calm on the ball, set off the move that led to Lukaku's goal, popped up to clear Yaya Toure's header off the line on the stroke of half-time and then added a delicious third goal with just 10 minutes left. He wears his socks low, gives himself time on the ball and doesn't shirk a battle. Everton have a new hero.

He hopefully has another 15 years of his career ahead of him, and probably won't score a better goal!

Made up for him today. As if the skill in the run up to the goal wasn't impressive enough, to pick himself up off the floor and finish with such composure from a tight angle I think today may of been the making of him.
