Can we give this lad a chance pse. Don't big him up then crucify him.Thanks.

Too late mate

He's had one game where he wasn't the second coming, so knives are getting sharpened

He'll get loaned somewhere this season and next pre-season he'll get annointed with the "not good enough" tag and that will be that

Shame, as I like him and think he has buckets of potential

I think that, like the other young men who played yesterday, he has a great future ahead of him but probably another 12 months down the line.

showed some neat little touches yesterday in midfield.

think he'll get some game time in Germany and maybe be even in and around the squad come the start of the season.

I can see him and Dowell both going out on loan to Championship clubs come September though.

I see you have conveniently ignored the majority of posters who are loving the look of this kid, including me.

Probably right, Davies seems more at ease with the step-up than Dowell, but would likely go out on loan moreso because of competition in his preferred position than anything else.

I'd get them both to Rotherham under Stubbsy mate.

Last night he was a little below the standard he has shown but in a relatively poor team performance. Nevertheless he glided around the midfield linking players and orchestrating things like Pirlo has done for years. Even if not at his best the composure and natural poise of the lad and his reading of the game is stand-out amongst his peer group. At 18 he looks the real deal, and I can see Koeman going with him and bringing him on (ie. developing him) this season.

Davies does best when he has a pure Defensive Midfielder alongside him , like Joe Williams when they played together at U21s or Barry. He has loads of energy and loves to get forward, touch and go whether he or Gerri would pop in that first goal. That energy sometimes works against him as last night he was running into space to get the ball pulling a MK player with him and not having much space to work in . Barry walks or strolls into the space to get the ball.
At just turned 18 he's got a lot of developing still to do , so the question is does he go on loan or stay at FF. I'd keep him here and let Koeman work on his weaknesses, train with the first team , learn from them . He becomes a versatile squad player on the bench and for game time there's always the fall back of Monday night u23 PL football. The other key point about keeping him is that we don't buy second class squad players for £8 mill plus but concentrate on quality signings as we have a decent squad if we use the youngsters.

I didn't think he was quiet but he did look a little lightweight when he got clobbered but he soon "evened" things out a few minutes later .This is exactly the kind of lad we want ,him and half a dozen others to build the future around .Ones who want to play for us not come to us because of Moshiri's millions and their cut of it , lads who have a blue heart like Mo and Ross .I know it is a bit sadistic but the longer we wait for "the big signing " the happier I am ,all the time comforted by the knowledge that they are making sure we have the right players .I hope we never get to Chelsea and City's level of mercenaries

More to the point, at the back end of last season he put in as good a midfield performance as any of our midfielders last season. I don't think we have another one like him. People are looking at ways to not include him but I think we have to start from the position he deserves to be included and you move others on instead. I see no sense in sending him out on loan at this stage and it would send a poor message to all the young players.

We absolutely cannot tolerate players having mediocre games at any point. Even if it was the 2nd game of pre season... and he's only played 2 professional games... and he's only 18... and has been moved around the pitch a lot of late. No excuses. Bin him.
