Awful this

Like Moyes giving that turd Osman a new contract

Hibbert and Osman I have no doubt are nice lads but as footballers there championship standard at best

Laughable

He was never really good enough in his prime. What use is he going to be in his mid-thirties after a couple of seasons on the bench/injured.

I honestly think this isn't necessarily a 'playing' contract.

It's a coaching one, with the fact he can play if we are desperate.

I'm sure of it.

Coleman's the only other right back we have. Stones' future isn't at right back and he's likely to be playing a lot at centre half so Hibbo is a good player to have as second choice. Those who think we can afford real class cover all over the pitch are kidding themselves.

Giving a player a 2 year contract to be a glorified cheerleader, too much sentimentality about it for me.
Everton have been competing regularly with squads worth many times as much money. Part of this is due to buying intelligently, but part of it almost certainly has to be a mentality in the locker room of professionalism and pride. Sometimes fans really don't see the worth of a player. People can bring many different qualities to a club, and if Hibbert is part of what makes Everton such a hard working club that continues to fight for CL, then the contract is not as bad as it would seem if solely judged on the pitch.

Bloody hell, this place has been the most miserable on earth for the last few days.

Do you honestly think the club would be signing him on wages substantial enough to cause problems for other potential transfers? Did you all miss the many times Martinez stressed how important it is to have experienced leaders like him around the young squad? Did you forget that we are playing a buttload more games this season and might be able to use an experienced right back?

Any excuse to moan, I swear.

Think we needed to invest in that position personally. Couple of million on someone in his early 20's. If Hibbert is our back up RB then we're screwed if Coleman gets injured!

We should obviously buy Alves.
