What would that have achieved? He's simply highlighting how low the club has slumped in terms of its treatment of long serving members and being a family club.

You'll soon all be moaning when you're having to pay over the odds for a ticket, probably protesting with them muppets over the park.
That's the behavior of an immature scorned lover. It would have achieved his wish of wondering why things shook out the way they did.
 
If it's true it's a bad buzz and poorly handled by the club.

That said you don't bin of the club in the papers, he's been badly advised here.

Sad all round to be honest and leaves a nasty taste.

Why exactly should they be wasting time on him when they had a new manager to appoint?

Given he should and probably would be retiring at the end of last season?
How much time does it take? A ten minute discussion with him towards the end of the season and allowing him to have a wave goodbye would have likely nipped all this in the bud.
 
He can't say he never saw it coming aswell, ffs Bobby gave him a farewell cameo towards the end of last season.
