The proposed route would take in Leeds, the Yorkshire Dales, Scarborough, York, Hull and Sheffield.
As with most things it depends. Did it on Friday as the first climb of the day and it was not bad at all. Did it again yesterday towards the arse end of 170km and it was a good deal harder.
Depends what you want from your days riding really. There are lots of climbs in the Bourg D'Oisans area, with a famous Tour ascent down every turn. One they haven't ever done though is the climb to Villard de Notre Dame. It's only a small road carved into the mountain and goes through several tunnels. Very picturesque.
A similar climb can be found if you turn right at Dutch corner (by the church) on D'huez. It takes you around the side of the mountain. Steeper than the Alps itself, with bits of around 14%. It brings you out towards the bottom of Les Duex Alpes so you could always do that one if you had the legs, or turn right and take the nice descent back towards Bourg D'Oisans.
Just seen this. I know those roads pretty well, used to ski/boad there every year! One of those roads up to Alpe D'Huez is nuts, barely enough space for a car at some points! Really nice drive, wouldnt fancy it on the bike tho
3 days to go. Who's your money on?
