Not a bad day for the Brits and Team Sky, stage win for Froome and Wiggo takes the yellow jersey! Boom. I do worry at how long there is left but with the amount of time trialling still to come it's definitely Brad's to lose. Should make for some exciting racing as well, Cadel will make a move at some point you'd imagine. Early days but what an achievement it would be. Come on Brad!

Fantastic performance from the sky team today, froome takes the stage win from cadel Evans with Wiggins taking 3rd. Taking into account that todays finish line was at the peak of a cat1 mountain stage,it bodes well for Wiggins.
Who now holds the yellow jersey by 10 seconds from Evans.
All in all an excellent days racing and result, for team sky and Wiggins.

Wow wow wow. Awesome day. Fantastic performance by the Sky boys, decimating the field on the final climb. Wiggins sticking with Evans and Froome showing his potential to kick away at the top.

Really think Wiggins will win this one, but Froome could certainly win Grand Tours in the future. He can time trial really well and his climbing is fantastic, especially on the very steep stuff.

Froome is the man in the Sky team best equipped to win a Grand Tour, I'm convinced of it. It's just politics and seniority etc that dictates Wiggins is team leader. That feller could have broken away yesterday to open up a minute gap on Evans and Wiiggins. Wiggins has looked strong before on the climbs but, as the theory goes, can get caught out by change in pace through attacks. I dont see that weakness with Froome. And as you say, he's no mug in TTing either.

With Contador back next year Froome will be the man to challenge. What will be interesting is whether they give Froome the leadership in the Vuelta. With the Tour and then both the road race and time trial in the Olympics it's a busy few months for him. It'd be nice to see him given some good support (maybe Uran, Henao, Lovquist etc.) and have a go at Contador in the Vuelta. See just how good he is.

Something will have to give with the Olympics. It's a big deal, but I'd imagine a decision to be made in SKY's best interests. The Froome/Wiggins stuff is fascinating. Froome is probably happy to be where he is for this moment and the team spirit will be good, especially if Wiggins wins the Tour (Brailsford seemed to be underlining Froome's ability to sacrifice yesterday rather than his great stage win). But there's got to be some tension in there, and if SKY dont prioritise Froome some other team will be in their making overtures.

Quite. He signed a new deal with Sky after the Vuelta last year, not sure how long it was for, but he'll want to be going for the GC himself before long.

The Tour finishes on the 22nd July, the road race is on the 28th July, the time trial on the 1st August, and the Vuelta starts on the 18th August.

That's a tough schedule for someone to do. It's a toughie because the Vuelta is a real climbers course this year. Seems built for Contador. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't let Froome miss that one, with Uran/Henao and Lovquist leading the team.

Two days in the mountains - Wiggins in control. Has it taken any of the edge off his TTing though? We'll find out tomorrow. If Evans can stay within touching distance of Wiggins it might put a dent into the latter's confidence.

Ahh cheers guys, I can see Wiggins gaining a few more seconds if anything tomorrow, he's the better time trialist by a fair bit..
