Do we really need Yarmolenko? Is he a creative player we're looking for? I think he's similar player to Mirallas not a David Silva type.
He's not a number 10, however he is a playmaker. Think of Pienaar at his best, played his best football out-wide yet he was still a significant playmaker and created numerous chances a game. His stats for Keiv are unreal, basically an Eden Hazard over there, scores a lot of goals yet will create a heap of opportunities and will get just as many assists as goals.

I do wonder if Bobby is after someone to be our playmaker except be able to play on the left rather than someone to just play directly behind the striker (Shaqiri is a left winger/CAM). By signing someone who can be our playmaker yet be able to play on the left would allow our left side to get a much needed improvement, we're still bringing a playmaker into the side and they can play alongside Barkley.

Imagine our attack looking like.

Lukaku
Yarmolenko - Barkley - Mirallas/Del
Would honestly match just about every other Premier League teams attack.

Yarmolenko won't come cheap though would take a bid around the 15m mark, we still need a new CB and will spend atleast 5m there. Unfortunately that would put us out of the Austin you'd presume which could explain why Martinez is now suggestion we'll only sign two new faces.

I'd still like to see the loan market explored to bring in a striker or even to take a punt on someone cheap. Kone has been fantastic but we can't presume Kone will play like this all season.

I'm more shocked that this is the case than us being linked to Yarmolenko

Yarmalenko with 1 year left on his contract not beyond the realms of possibility and is a top top class player. Mirallas Lukaku Yarmalenko would be as good as anything in the league but I would worry about their ability to break down a well organised team parking the bus at Goodson

Yarmolenko can play as a cf, so surely fills the no 10 role we're missing

Howard
