Isn´t De Guzman another defensive midfielder?

De Guzman is a similar player to Tom Cleverley.. tidy, technical central midfield player. Has more goals in him then Clev though. Likes to get forward and is quite good with free kicks.

Still, I wouldn't want him on loan and don't want to spend more money on central midfield players. That's the one area of the pitch where we don't need reinforcements.

He wouldn't be my first pick but as a backup in case Yarmolenko falls through I think it's a prudent decision. It certainly beats going into the last couple of days with nothing to show.

You would imagine if Guzman coming in on loan then we will see some more outgoings, perhaps Gibson to leave on deadline day to some championship club and Ledson being sent out on loan or something.

Look we are pretty desperate here - idea of Fazio awful.
Would anybody consider Curtis Davies as a stop gap? Had a decent 13-14 but no idea about last year - was he injured much?
Think we at least need a body with some prem experience. Imagine Jags getting a serious injury - deep trouble
