Was it last summer that Perisic was mentioned but then injuries his shoulder ? The last thing I read about him was that a possible move to Italy was on the horizon .. Could Perisic be the dark horse of a transfer .. Martinez raved about him last season .. No links what so ever but having previous transfers periods have been filled with names of people that never arrived and the ones that did arrive was never mentioned
He's going to Inter

You can buck off mate!

I wouldn't want him there either mate but can you honestly see Martinez dropping Barry for him in midfield? Roberto plays his favourites and Mccarthy is too important to drop which would mean Barry slotting alongside James as has been the case, now I can't see Cleverly rejecting first team football from other clubs to be a bench player, add Barkley, Osman and Naismith all played at LW last season and Cleverly being able to play that position it's 2+2 together imo.

cheers mate - reminded me to stick you on ignore. i don't think GOT has whitnessed such a negative poster from the off.

I don't get fans like yourself who have to be positive even when their is no case to be so, does it make you a better fan than me?

Plenty can still happen in this window but it's deluded if you don't look at other clubs business and be a bit concerned on the calibre of player going to smaller clubs than ourselves especially when said players are exactly that type of creative outlet we are crying out for.

Well, Bobby is pretty unpredictable, (that's both pretty and unpredictable), But hopefully Deulofeu was just lennons replacement... OR if we are getting lennon back, Deulofeu was McGeady's replacement & hopefully he buys this creative midfielder we're all looking for and the creative midfielder he said he wanted a few months back.

"Sí, i want a creative midfielder"

I was like this.. years and years ago. Then I realised that Everton cope with this and are usually still boss after clubs around them lash money about left right and centre. Window has just under 2 months left, I'm sure we're going to be happy with it at the end. I could go on about who we have signed or who we have been linked to or even what crap players could leave but I'm not going to waste my time.

Palace agreed a £10 mil deal with PSG for Cabaye. Seeing the likes of Palace and Stoke look close to signing the likes of Cabaye and Shaqiri is painful with us crying out for a creative midfielder.

I just hope Martinez's master plan to our creative problem isnt Tom Cleverly or I fear another long season ahead.

Cabaye going to Palace is all down to Pardew. Don't know why you're bothered, £10 mil is quite a bit for us to spend on a player who hasn't really set the world alight since leaving the prem and I would rather not spend what we have for a playmaker on a 29 year old Cabaye. Shaqiri would be ace though.

I don't think he plans on playing Cleverly at 10, there is a starting position up for grabs there but I see Cleverly as a replacement for the crocked Gibson and not as the first eleven quality playmaker we are looking for.

It is funny how football has changed in even just the last decade, when Moyes started with 4-5-1 it wasn't being played as much. I think the beloved 4-5-1 of Moyes was as much an economic decision as it was a tactical one because the market for strikers was expensive relative to the other 10 positions, the majority of the most expensive transfers had been for strikers. Now things have changed and a lot more teams are playing 4-2-3-1/4-5-1 and the market demand for that no. 10/attacking midfielders has increased and made them hard to land.

I think last season a lot of us thought Barkley had the world at his feet and got caught up in watching his potential rather than watching his actual performances. At the moment he is the best we have for that position and with how expensive other proven players in his position are going I have a feeling Martinez is down to a few options. He is either going to have to be patient and wait for the right player and deal later in the window or have a choice between sticking with Barkley and Naismith for that position (We've seen how that works), or take the jump and switch the formation.

This was in the Echo in May, just incase any of you guys with Alzheimer's have forgotten...

Roberto Martinez has been forced to look abroad to find the perfect playmaker for Everton because of a lack of English talent.

The Blues manager wants to add a No10 to his squad this summer and has drawn up a shortlist of targets.

But Martinez admits he has been scouring the European markets for a creative midfielder because there aren’t any homegrown talents that fit the bill.

The Catalan believes Everton have talented players coming through their Academy that will save the club millions of pounds in the future but as he heads into his third summer at the Goodison helm, Martinez is looking overseas for a signing he has made a priority.

“It is difficult to find an English No10 because the upbringing is very, very different,” Martinez said.

“I feel we have put things in place in our Academy that mean we will see our own products in that position in the next four of five years, and I am excited about that.

“But it is true that if you look at every single team in the Premier League unfortunately, that player is someone who has had that upbringing abroad.

“At Everton, we are ready to produce our own who can fill that role but we will have to wait four or five years and it is exciting to see how that develops.
