I think this happens a fair bit to be honest mate. Agents or clubs leak a porky or 2 to the press to either hurry up a bid or get a little more out of it for the player.
I can see this happening with Benteke in the coming days, wouldn't be surprised if someone reports United are looking to "stump" the RS for him

I agree that agents are constantly dropping the names of other clubs when they are tring to generate interest in their player, but I wonder how effective it is?
I think a club has a price in mind and won't go above that. I also think that managers are reasonably friendly with each other and could give a call to ask if the reported interest is genuine.

Looking to another Chelsea loan for a third year running would be a good idea.

You've got the likes of Salah who is class already but doesn't get much of a look in and won't next year either. Loan with a view to buy would be top business.

There's also youngsters like box to box Van Ginkel. Mceachran who seems highly rated and that Brazilian lid Piazon. None of which will be touching their first team.

Let's face it, if we had wanted we could've bought Atsu. We did buy Lukaku. Continue the trend I say, there's obviously a good connection between the clubs now.
