Travel thread 3.0

Am off to Cork in November for a Beamish stout binge...can't wait.

…been drunk there many times.

I’m in Cyprus but Mrs Eggs and I was talking to a couple in our hotel from Cork last night, he owned a horse that just won at Down Royal so they were buzzing. Proper Irish country is Cork, my ancestors are from the County which possibly explains my love of Guinness and horse racing.

Went a couple of years ago...everyone is 6.4 and gorgeous.

I left feeling very small and ugly.
Would like to travel more in Scandinavia but it is just so expensive. I went to Oslo back in December 2010, the year of the Beast from the East, it was minus 25 centigrade at midday and the harbour was frozen. Nice place but having a few beers in the night was not enjoyable given the horrific prices

…Guinness, Leopardstown, O’Donohue’s by St Stephens Green for a bit of yidlee diddlee, never failed to enjoy my trips to Dublin and the Emerald Isle.
Would take Belfast over Dublin for a long weekend every single time. People are so much friendlier, bars are better and so is the food. Get up the Antrim coast to Portrush and Giants Causeway....absolutely stunning.

Cheers yeah Vasa is on the agenda. Fotografiska too. ABBA museum could be good too, thanks for that.

I’m with me mar so could theoretically tackle some blondes but everyone here looks out of my league tbf
Take the overnight feryy to Helsinki....brilliant city that eclipses Stockholm IMO, and it's worth it just for the sail into Helsinki.
The Finns are a crazy bunch but socially absolutely brilliant....been quite a few times to Helsinki and Rhyimaki

Probably need to visit Vientiane soon in Laos to organise a Thai visa due to a new job. Anybody been there and have recommendations on places to stay / eat / drink a coffee?

Cheers unfortunately I didn’t have time for that this time but definitely plan to head back out that way soon so will definitely check out Helsinki

Been looking to book a holiday for May next year, been contemplating loads of places but have finally settled on going back to Lanzarote…. First visited there 7 years ago and it was our first holiday on our own for a very long time so the mrs and I are going back… loved every minute of it when I was there.

About 20 years ago so will have changed massively. Only place to drink later on was this bowling alley. Was a funny little town. Dirt cheap as no one stayed there. Had some old French colonial buildings if I remember right. Quite liked it myself.

I’ve stayed in Cala En Blanes and also Fornells.

It’s a very small island so you aren’t ever very far away from anywhere.

Make sure you have a day out in Citaduella, lovely architecture and plenty of places to eat. It’s easy to get buses to there from most places.

Fornells port is worth a visit for a meal on the harbour.

It’s definitely the most chilled out place I’ve ever been. Went last year for my 55th birthday but my sister used to own a house in Fornells so went a few times then.

Lovely stuff, first trip with the baby so expecting quite a chilled one :). Weather looking promising after the past week or so, hoping for some cold beer and nice seafood. Looks very chilled.

I'd like to do a little Friday to Sunday trip to Iceland next.

Yeah you definitely need the right clothes in December!
