Personally very happy with a game under the lights.

I had the Spurs game provisionally booked, by moving it I would have to take the day off work and only get 3 hours sleep for the next day. Gutted.

I booked a 4000 mile flight to catch the Newcastle match on Tuesday and headed back on Wednesday. I'm totally screwed on this now. That would have been my only chance to see Goodison under the lights. I'm sick right now.

Unless you want to pay hundreds more for flights you tend to book these things well in advance. I think anyone who does this given how often they change nowadays needs to give themselves a few days before or after just in case. That said sometimes that isn't possible, could be over for work, have reasons to be back home by a certain date etc.

Airfare is my biggest expense on this trip, if I would have waited until now it would have doubled. I specifically planned a trip around a midweek match so I could see multiple games in the least amount of time. I will still be in town for Fulham at home and in London for Palace away. A one way ticket home from London after Palace is twice as much as paid for roundtrip out of Manchester so I can't even switch and go home early. Side note, anyone have a spare for Fulham or Palace?

@Tylard best bet may be to get a general home ticket for Palace from them. Not as much fun obviously if we are winning but least you get to see the game...

As has been said I think travelling overseas to watch sport you take a gamble , so many factors at play but the financial differences are huge . If something like this happens then you’ve got it wrong but I’ve certainly took chances .

It being after the fact makes it hindsight. It came across as an unsympathetic rhetorical question - whether that was the intent or not.
