TV Series

It’s the attention to detail she had.

The Royle family episode when she’s ballsing up Xmas dinner and she shouts at Dave for his “Piano tie” is magic.

You just know some of that stuff is personal experience as well..

The more times you watch it the more you see. It’s the silences after lines now that crack me up I never noticed as a kid.

You are a northern lad, I guess you’ve seen family traits like they have in that show ?
Outrageous assumption on my part is that some southern people will just miss some of the jokes ?!

Oh yes, for sure, grew up in a working class household so it’s magic to me. Dare I say even northern kids these days just wouldn’t get it? Bringing round a catalogue for your mates to order your clothes.

I watched it from when it started and loved it, brilliantly funny and at times so poignant out of nowhere. Fell out of love with it when they were just putting out Xmas specials, just felt they got daft and lost their magic. However this week my missus, who had never seen it before, stumbled on an episode, loved it and we have just binged the lot. Just brilliant and like you say I have noticed things I didnt notice when I was younger. Terrible Caroline went so young, she was brilliant and no doubt would have created more great programmes in the future. Big loss.

Trying to finish off Invasion (Apple TV) but its so bad and boring.
Spent half the episodes just watching characters brooding. It took a staggeringly long time for the people to work out what's going on, which the viewer (or at least I) find irritating because its the very name of the series. So much melodrama and pointless interactions with very cliche characters. There are hints of a decent show inside it but those moments are few and far between.

Finished the White Queen, I watched them in the wrong order, I should have watched WQ first then White Princess but I just thought it was a continuation going by the name.

Starting The Spanish one now.

How many people have lost their lives due to the politics and plotting of rich people. Still happening today.

Think you're spot on!

When Early Doors was first on TV I was living and working down in Buckinghamshire and most people who were local(ish) just didn't seem to get most of it. Exceptions being me and a work mate who was from Leigh who would be proper belly laughing at lots of it. I remember some of them just didn't get the concept of back street boozers, let alone the relatability of the characters. Almost two different worlds in one country at the time!
