TV Series

Yeh I’m following along just fine that’s why I was confused. I only found out when I Google’d it to see what rating it had and found a season one main character I’d never heard of.

I’ll go back and watch the first two seasons now though just for my OCD
They’re worth watching too as they are really good. Was a real shame it got dropped in the first place so I was very happy to see to see it brought back. I’ve got one episode of the second series left and it hasn’t disappointed at all.

Aye just found it under the name you said. Only 8 episodes so will whiz through it tomorrow. Already noticed the age gap in some characters in the episode icon like the little junkie friend who meets him outside of prison. Just a kid on the first season.

Done the actual first two series of Top Boy now (cheers Netflix for the confusion) but I gotta say I think I prefer the new to the old.

Top Boy.
Started watching the Netflix series one. Irrespective of the C4 product this is top drawer.
Brilliant filming. Totally believable locations and casting.
Even after only three episodes I'm well and truly hooked.
Finished it today. Genuinely one of the best things I’ve watched in a while. Agree with everything you’ve said here. It’s just so good and I’m now annoyed I’ll have to wait for the next series. Which they weirdly haven’t green lit yet. Surely there has to be another one

Watching it last night, I thought the exact same.

This final series needed to be at least ten episodes, not six as normal.

There`s just too much material from the previous five series, to finish it all in six epsiodes.

It`s a real shame, as it`s been one the best ever dramas that BBC have ever done ( imo ) and put a lot of previously relatively unknown actors on the map.

Particularly Paul Anderson, as Arthur.

How many tv dramas have spawned a culture outside of the show - clothes, haircuts, even bars ?
Agree. It's been a real let down this season.

Arthur has gone from being one of the best characters, to barely in it and just the 'drunk uncle' now.

Disappointing.

Agree with all of that and you need to add in the fact, that when you think that Ashley Walters and Kano, weren`t originally actors and have gone onto become two of the best young British actors around.

My only small gripe, is that the lack of police involvement isn`t realistic, as the Police would have undercover squads and surveillance all over them.
I hope I'm not going to fall foul of the Woke brigade when I say this, but one of the joys of watching this is listening to how the actors speak in their own lingo. It's early days for me but I'm picking up one or two terminologies now.

I`ve got a mate who`s ex Old Bill and he worked off and on for years, doing various things out of uniform in that London and he says that from his own experiences, Top Boy is the most realistic thing that`s ever been done, about inner city London. ( apart from the fact that the mayhem and slaughter goes unchecked by the Police )

I had to stick subtitles on when they were in Jamaica season 3.
