TV Series

Have got to ask the question while it's on my mind.

Did anyone ever get on with 'MAD MEN' ?

I totally ignored the series but after such rave reviews I finally gave in a few years ago and tried giving it a go, but couldn't even get past the first Episode.
Don't know whether it's just a slow burner that grows on you or just a total 'Love or Hate' series....

Everybody's different mate. Twice I've tried having a go at Breaking bad and just couldn't get into it. Haven't even tried BCS as I thought if i didn't like one then I wouldn't like the other either. Same with Ozark. Took me about a year to make my way through the first series and it was a real slog. Haven't bothered with the rest. Yet they all get rave reviews on here.

One of the series I'm watching at the moment is Severance. i watch an episode a day and it's decent, but to my mind no more than that. Will definitely finish the series and will watch a second one if it comes out. But loads on here have been saying it's the best TV they've seen in years. By contrast I binge watched the first 3 episodes of Daisy Jones and the six last night, and was gutted when I discovered I had to wait until next Friday to see the next episode. I doubt most on here will even bother watching it as it's not their thing but I absolutely love it. Sam Claflin has a great voice by the way.

To me, mad men is easily one of the best ever, but it's a slow burner

Unless it's absolutely terrible, I think you've always got to try at least half a season, particularly with US shows as the first tends to be a pilot

Yeah your definitely right there m8, I will normally always give a show a good chance once I've chosen to go for it. just for that simple reason, that I could be making a mistake.
Even with 'Mad Men' I even gave it a break in case it was just me and wrong time and then went back later and tried again but I just found trying to get through an Episode felt like I'd just lost a year off my life...
( I'll Prob give another crack but it could just be a 'Love or hate' series. ) But if everyone on here also raves about it then maybe it's just me..

I found the same with that 'Treme' first time round but I persisted with it and then went back again to give it another go and now it's one of my favourites out there.
Then again I probably gave that the time cos I new it was a 'David Simon' series and you really can't go wrong with that bloke.

You ever want a great set of series to delve into, just go through 'David Simon's' Catalogue...

Thought I'd revisit Battlestar Galactica as all the seasons are on BBC I-Player.

Just as boss as I recalled.... Slick, fast-paced and tense with the always brilliant Eddie Olmos in a towering central performance.

Forget the campy 70's version - THIS is the one to go for. Loads of cool action, a paranoid "war on terror" plot and wonderfully sleazy performance from James Callis as the cowardly treacherous, tormented Dr. Gaius Baltar.

If you've not seen it - deffo give it a shot.

I watched this fairly recently. Got a few too many filler episodes for my liking that derail the momentum at times. Still good though.
