Watched the first episode of The Penguin and enjoyed it. They have deffo based him on Tony Soprano, he even sounds like him.

Not even slightly. No one in the show has superpowers. It's a gritty crime series.

I've watched a few episodes, and I don't really get it. I feel like it's closer to Death in Paradise / Murder in Paradise (or whatever it's called) rather than a gritty drama.

It feels a bit comical, and I do feel that Simm has been told to be quite reserved - maybe even placid.

I've read a lot of the books and they are a good read but he looks like a lost boy. Compare him with Stephen Tompkinson playing Banks. Completely different vibe.
