TW article: money ideas for Everton

You couldn't make it up, could you?

Hopefully the fans that bought these season tickets are the same ones that hounded out Sam Allardyce. Effectively, they're responsible for Newcastle being in the Championship anyway.

But back to making money for Everton ... :D

This Newcastle getting relegated stuff is the gift that just keeps on giving. I cant wait to see them in coming seasons punching the walls in frustration as yet another play off chance goes begging with Bristol City beating them to 6th place.

The membership thing won't solve anything but it could be useful to define who would be elegible to suscribe the fund.

Imagine that amongst evertonians fellows money can be raised for that fund. Each individual would have some sort of stock proving his contribution.

The player bought by that fund would be loaned out to the club (I'd say sold half of the rights but there is that third part ownership thing). If the player was to be sold, the revenues would be reflected on the stock. The fan could either sell it or keep it.

For the club the benefit would be to have a player on the cheap and maybe some part of a future transfer. For the fans, every year there would be the possibility of offering a player to Moyes and still make some profit.

The membership thing... well, the fund would be opened to members only.

Has this ever been tried elsewhere? Fans becoming the Kia Joorabchian. It seems fraught with problems: what happens if the contracted player is unhappy? They're not vassel slaves and can presumably move on. Who makes the decision about selling, and for how much, and to whom?

Of course there are plenty of flaws, but still it is better than just give away the money without knowing what will be done with it.

Since the fund would be a "love fund", the decision on selling would have to be shared with the club. The value, it all would depend on the offer.

But a fund subscriber meeting would always take place to decide this matters.

If we could buy a player and allow the club to buy 50% of the football rights, it would be the best solution. The club would handle all the affaires on the contract and the selling price. But the contract between the fund and the club would have to meet certain clause criteria. For example, at some point the club would have to buy the remaining 50%, allowing the fund to have means to participate in a future transfer operation benefeating the club.

Imagine 50.000 fans give 100£ for the fund... it would be 5M£ available to help the club.

The profit thing wouldn't be the most important, but it would give the fans some sort of means to control how the money would be spent.

Seems that Marseilles fans had this idea last year to fund (or part fund) the 22M it was going to cost to bring Drogba back to them.

The only example I can find in this country is the We Are QPR PLC
that set up in 2002 (and folded in 2002!).BBC SPORT | Football | Teams | QPR | Ferdinand helps QPR
