Happened fairly early on, for me...America Online is the one that did me in. It was the sponge for the many forms of my youthful enthusiasm. Came in a vibrant, juicy grape...by the end I was a California raisin. I leave the Twits, 'Grammers and 'Tokers to it...it's our gift to the virile of today; it's their turn to embarrass themselves, on an even bigger stage.

It's the ones who dismissed the first wave and hopped on the second at 40+ years old that are the real stars, ripe to go supernova.

The blueroom all day long. Bill's moderation skills are legendary. Even Philip Green got banned.

pretty sure he was always drunk.

Tickets11 was the Davek of the Blueroom.

then we had those endless threads with almost-endless spelling variations in the title: Rigelme, Ruquelme, Rikelme, Riguelme, Riquelme.


GOT is clearly superior...but Blueroom had its own quirky little charm.

I’ve picked up on quite a few slants on this, Everton’s greatest online community, towards Twitter and the blues, people that use that online community.

I see tweets constantly linked on here so it seems you use it as a valued resource yet I sense some fear Twitter, as a tadpole fears the ocean perhaps.

Why is there a beef between GOT and Twitter? I wish to help heal if so.

It worries me about that place that if it’s reflective to true society that we’re doomed. I mean i have crazy thoughts and am a creature of imperfect impulse but twitter makes me feel normal.

I have a twitter account. It's a litter box of snark, obvious takes, unsolicited emotional states, single-entendre jokes, hyperbolic admonitions about low-probability threats, and needless politicization of mundane events. I use it only to meet right-wing gun-owning 'merican girls

Binned off Twitter during lockdown. It's a horrible place. The final straw was being stalked by a 65 yr old Evertonian from Yorkshire- who was really creepy. I only miss two things. The Merseyside police horses Twitter feed and Keith Azul - who was/is a work of genius. I'll stick with GOT.

In a way, I love hating it.

What it is good for is highlighting how many gobshites are all around us every day.
