Dylan, may be you or one of the lads could help explain what I have seen in the sky twice. I have a Newtonian scope but can't get to use it these days so if I observer I use binoculars 10x50. I used the same binoculars when we go away on holiday to dark sky spots such as countryside in Wales and Scotland.
On one occasion I was out on some sand flats at night fishing but had the binoculars with me and I watched a 'satellite head toward me, it stopped (satellites don't do that) and headed off at speed at an acute angle, the object I saw was simply a light but its actions are unexplainable.
The next time was at a camp site in Scotland and a similar light only this time much brighter, rose from a clear horizon and was watched by myself, friends and our kids. it suddenly veered off at 70 degrees, just couldn't explain it. Meteors entering Earth's atmosphere maintain a virtual straight line, planes can't behave in that fashion, X Files or what.
In essence they are both UFO sightings but for little green men, not on your Nelly mate.
