Oviedo and Lennon could miss Everton FA Cup tie
Bryan Oviedo and Aaron Lennon may miss Everton‘s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Chelsea, according to Roberto Martinez.
Oviedo, who has started the Toffees’ last seven matches, was admitted to hospital on Wednesday evening after having difficulty breathing.
The left back was diagnosed with a chest infection and is now recovering at home.
Lennon, meanwhile, is struggling to shake off a hamstring strain picked up in the 3-2 defeat to West Ham United last Saturday.
And manager Martinez believes the pair will be touch and go ahead of the match against the Londoners.
Martinez said: “Bryan has reacted really well and we hope that he is going to be back with us tomorrow [Friday]. We hope that he is going to have a speedy recovery.
“At the moment it is too early to tell [whether he can play against Chelsea].
“With a chest infection, we had something similar with Tom Cleverley and he missed the Aston Villa and West Ham games. Gareth Barry had something similar and he was able to play a little bit of a part against West Ham.
“Every player is different, depending how serious and how much that infection affects you.
“Aaron Lennon has been progressing well and we are going to make a decision later today whether he can be involved with the squad or not.”
Barry, Cleverley and Leighton Baines have, however, been passed fit to take part in the last-eight tie atGoodison Park.
