If someone could explain to me what shape the US were in most of last night, I'd love to hear it. Because I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Unorganized and undisciplined.

In reality it was a clusterf*ck. On paper it was different each half.

First half it was a 4-5-1 with Donovan sitting underneath Buddle. Brazil was playing a more compact 3 in the midfield with the wing backs pushing deep. Brazil's compact midfield denied any semblance of forward movement after the first 10 minutes.

In the second half, we shifted to a 4-4-2 (equally ineffective midfield) until Gomez came in and then it looked like we "tried" to play a 4-3-3 but in reality it was simply another 4-5-1 with Gomez and either Altidore or Findley having to fall back into the midfield to try and break up the passing clinic Brazil put on.

Our wingbacks tried to push up, but Neymar kept burning Spector and Bedoya was having to cover too much. Which meant we had no consistent right midfielder after the first 5 minutes.
