USA v Slovenia

Tennessee Blue Mike

Player Valuation: £50m
Both have outstanding Goalkeepers.

US has to win this game and get the three points if we have any chance of moving on.

Whats everyone thoughts on this one.

I think a draw could be okay for the USA. If they draw and England win, the table will look like this going into the last day;

England 4
Slovenia 4 (gd - 1)
USA 2 (gd - 0)
Algeria 0

So going into their game against Algeria, the US will know that a win by two clear goals puts them through automatically, and a win by 1 goal will put them through unless there is a high score draw between England and Slovenia. The US are in a pretty good position in this group after their draw with England.

I'd like to think that the USA will win the match but then again, we'll find a way to make it hard on ourselves.

Not sure what my thoughts are about this game to be honest. I mean, we all knew what to expect with England, but I know absolutely NOTHING about Slovenia (other than that they are in fact a real country...who knew?)

Obviously they are a decent squad if they made it to the tourny through european qualifying. If the U.S. don't assert their authority in this match, then it will only bolster the confidence of Algeria as well meaning a battle to make it to the round of 16.

My very un-educated predection is USA 2 - 0 Slovenia (second goal coming in the 86th minute from Herculez Gomez)

I would say US 2-0 as Slovenia's attack looks inept and I can see them perhaps trying for a draw. Thanks to ironically a goal keeping error this match is the most important of the group stage now.

This game is the kind that in the past the US has traditionally laid an egg in. Play the better teams tough and let down against the bottom feeders. We have to win this one.

I would like to see a couple of new faces start the game. Torres and Buddle come to mind. I think speed will give us plenty of chances. We need the finishing to be more precise. I would like Landon to be more forward thinking in these next two fixtures.

This has always been the one I'm most worried about. Their win vs Algeria only amplified the concern.

Was looking through their player list, no world beaters but plenty of high level european club players (not all that unlike our portfolio). But what worries me most is that they seem to play better as group than their individual parts, again something I feel we rely upon.

Like most, don't know a whole lot about them. But they knocked out a very talented russian side, coached by one of the best in the world in Hiddink. So that alone is enough to scare me plenty.

Torn on how many, if at all, changes bradley should make. I imagine he's done his homework though, preparation not an area he lacks in, imo.

Would have loved to see more edu over clark. Think he offers everything rico does but slightly better in all areas. Could also do w/ seeing torres, holden, buddle, & maybe some 2nd half benny/herc action. And dare I say, da beaz?? That is, assuming I had a clue as to which DMB we were getting.

Big match here, a win & we should be looking mighty pretty.
