Usmanov

I'll be as delighted as anyone else if we get all our targets and spend big.

I dont think playing the Usmanov card is helpful though.

Before the Kool aide can be cracked open there is much work to be done.

The blood letting has come at a cost, we are Zouma and Gueye down on last seasons finishing. Two key ares down the spine of the team.

Kean if it comes off is a player of promise, while Delph will add presence, engine and savy, that was badly needed. He’s not Idrissa replacement to my eye. Two different dimensions added.

Bare minimum, we still need a centre half, midfield anchor and wide attacker and I’d be satisfied.

The Kean deal if it comes off looks one of promise, a centre forward of some pedigree but seems weird celebrating after five windows since Rom.

Some good and creative work done (if deals get over the line) credit to Silva and Brands, much to be done though. You feel that deals out are still critical overall, behind the incoming headlines.

It’s important to acknowledge the work of Steve Walsh who is funding this window, the man may have had a wet weetabix personality, but some eye for a player.

Fingers crossed as we head into the last week.

Of course its sell to buy, thats how Marcel Brands operates, thats how every club in world football operates, bar 4 or 5 of them.

Buy low, sell high, sadly at this point we dont have many money-making assets, but we should not forget that every club in the world at some point sells their best player.

Yeah, was just throwing it out there, all these links buying 17yr old kids for 40m make no sense (in terms of where we are getting the money from).

I know that some people never stop wanting a caped crusader figure to come into their lives and solve problems that look intractable, but it's puzzling when you see them grab for it when the more obvious reason for £60M of spending this summer is that we've taken in via player sales £70M. It is the very definition of the Everton Father Christmas Syndrome.

Besides that, most of the people looking to claim it's Usmanov's cash are the same people that when there's controversy in the media about Moshiri's connections to Usmanov are the first to pour scorn on the link, saying "there's nothing to see here".

It makes no sense.

The spending by and large since Moshiri arrived here has been raised through massive player sales and an equally massive hike in tv revenue. It's just desperate to think otherwise. There is no factual basis for seeing it any other way.
