Usmanov

My take on this is that there are subtle interesting differences between the Forbes interview (Aug 2018). The word from Usmanov then was along the lines of “if he needs the support I’m happy to help”, which with the sponsorship situation(s) certainly seems to have happened.
The F.T (current) interview seems to suggest more that Usmanov actually wants to invest, not just that he’s willing to.
To see him quoted as using the words “the USM Arena” is surely an exciting development to even the most ardent of doubting Thomas’.

As long as the owner writes off the debt each year then who cares. That protects the club from unscrupulous owners and allows clubs a chance to dine at the top table. The football pyramid will be ruined in a matter of years as the PL will be that + the same maximum 10ish clubs.

What I find strange from the media is the reluctance to have the top 6 gatecrashed, surely it is better for the Premier league and English football if the league is competitive top to bottom. Why have the same teams winning everything, I find that waters down the competition and becomes less of a spectacle for the likes of us who just exist.

FFP is one of the worst things to ever happen to football. Brought in because they didn’t want little Man City dining at the top table ahead of their chosen elite.

The ironic thing is that Man City are now part of this elite and have taken Man Utd’s place at the top table.

Didn’t City get around FFP by receiving huge sponsorship deals from the same place their owners came from?

Looks like Everton may do similar with the new stadium sponsorship.

They'll start stopping these insane sponsorships now Everton are in the game.

I agree totally but it's probably based on the teams that have a higher profile globally so that marketing and sponsorship pays off. There's a lot invested in clubs and players based on their reputations and global appeal

Then they would have to learn the names of more players and details to seem knowledgeable. It keeps it easy if they can say a blanket against this poor team for anyone else. :p

I believe that UEFA/PL scrutinise any sponsorship deal to ensure they are at the market value.

Everybody LOVED watching the premier league the season Leicester won it, incredible story, it’s in everyone’s interest for the premier league to be as competitive as possible but I suppose the fear would be if we don’t have one or two super powers winning every other year, will we be able to win European trophies. Barca and Real have been so good in Europe over the last 15 or so years because they had all of La Liga’s best players

You know I was just thinking that, we are owned by an accountant and people are saying our books aren't right, not sure if they are serious.
I think one or two have been Everton’d a few too many times to believe we’ve changed since BK was the main man but anyone who understands finances and looked at our books objectively would have no issue I’m sure

The one thing that always stood our league apart was it's competitive nature only now rather than 1 or 2 behemoths like in most leagues, we have 6 but 99% of the time the same 6 win all the trophies and to me it's stale and boring. That's why I'm hoping Ancelotti shoves it all back down the medias throats and brings the good times back.

Our finances are a mess though if you are looking at strictly through running a good viable business.

It is what is. You would have hoped we would have improved more given the amount spent but it's not like he has said we are now going to stop and sell all our valuable players. Some people bash him for not spending and another lot saying we have spent too much.

I expect they will just take the fines and move on. The only person truly worried about Everton's accounts is The Esk.
