I just yesterday watched a fascinating doco on Tamerlane...hell of an empire builder he was.
In modern geographical terms, he was an Uzbekistani.
After watching the programme, I am thinking of visiting the country...looks very interesting

I used to have 2 Uzbeki chefs work for me when I had a pub a couple of years back. Lovely respectful people. A lot of History in that country especially with it being on the Silk road route. Definitely somewhere I'd like to visit.

It could be a message to Kroenke to make a decision. With Arsenal looking like they could be out of CL football for some time and a costly squad rebuild looking inevitable, Kroenke may be thinking about cashing in. Usmanov may be letting him know that he may soon no longer be an option for a sale as if he does make an overt investment in Everton he'll give up any aspirations of owning Arsenal?

That would explain all the nonsense about what shirt he's wearing etc.

Usmanov has already admitted defeat in that battle and sold his shares to Kroenke in 2018, I'm hoping that after being blocked there he may want to show Kroenke up to the Arsenal fans by demonstrating how a club can build a ground without going through the spending austerity that Arsenal did.

Usmanov has spite billions over Kroenke and may want to demonstrate that and embarrass him to the Arsenal supporters, billionaires can be pretty competitive and not averse to 'wasting' some to show another one up.

I agree with the point about him staying in the background. It doesn’t make sense for him to be officially on board pre BMD as he’ll not be able to pump in any sums of money and avoid FFP.

The only way (and I stand to be corrected) that we can bypass breaching FFP pre BMD is to increase our revenues. So naming rights of BMD seem the most obvious way to provide us huge capital.

Apologies if this has already been covered in this fast moving thread, but my understanding is that money spent on infrastructure isn't subject to FFP restrictions. As you say, naming rights revenue would allow for us to get round FFP, which if I am correct only relates to player trading.

So I don't know which form of investment from Usmanov would be most advantageous? Stadium sponsorship? A share issue? A bit of both?

Getting someone to realise the new stadium is a massive step-forward, but we really need someone to finance both a stadium and major squad investment. I really hope that the wealth of Usmanov could provide us with that.
