Moshiri has indeed sanctioned £460m in transfer fees but the club has also brought in at least £265m through player sales so Moshiri has spent around £190m on players when you take that into consideration in just under 4 years, as well seemingly wiping out debt. Fans wanted us to pay higher wages to attract better players and improving our income from commercial activity was never going to easy when you accept that we have only been in Europe 7 times in the past 25 years, one of those while Moshiri was in charge, and never in the CL proper. Do you give him credit for attracting Ancelotti?

No but you can bet Dave will move the goalposts for you. lol

The 30m is revenue in the P&L which helps in terms of our FFP limits. The fact that the club says it will go entirely towards stadium development is irrelevant. It’s still sponsorship revenue on the books.

If any money is used in any part of infrascture development then it doesn't count towards FFP. It can go down as any type of income and it might not get all used this financial year. The club will spend 'x' amount of stadium development this financial year and they will be able to say that money came from the £30m, but that other £30m is sitll
I seem to remember Spurs, Liverpool and City all wasting a load of cash on players to try and progress. The difference now is that players cost 5 times as much, so what was 100 million spunked up the wall is now half a billion.

You can't make an omelette without breaking any eggs and unlike when these clubs were spending millions trying to get into the ring we now have 6 huge established clubs with massive commercial arms to try and stay ahead of us. Harder to get in the CL, so it's harder to boost the income and attract players by being in it, therefore slower rate of progress. No one is perfect and can create a team from losers to winners in a few years without making mistakes. The RS went from Hodgson in 2010 to finally winning trophies in 2019 (discounting the fluky league cup win on pens). They had a much better starting position than us too.

I certainly much prefer being able to try and compete rather than pre-Moshiri just hope for a miracle. There has been waste no doubt but they have also looked to correct the mistakes as soon as possible.

Remember when Liverpool signed the likes of Andy Carroll for £36m.

Spurs signing super striker Vincent Janssen for £20m.

City and Chelsea with their myriad of mega expensive signings at the time that didn't go on to deliver.

Etc etc

And how has Moshiri been responsible for robbing us of our identity in his 4 years here?

We've had years under Kenwright saying we couldn't compete with the big 4 as it was then. We have a tradition since the early 90s of bringing players through our youth system only for them to find their level at Championship or lower. One or two exceptions, Osman, Hibbert, getting established in the team. One or two, Rooney, Rodwell, showing too much talent for a club that, by the time Moyes got us back up the table, were now seen as best of the rest, plucky little Everton punching above their weight, hard work, team spirit, no trophies, making up the numbers.

Our stability that we had become use to under 11 years of David Moyes went out the window when he was allowed to run down his contract until he revealed in late April that he was taking over at Man United. We were made to look very foolish thinking that he was going to sort out a new contract at the end of the season when it was later revealed that he knew he was Ferguson's choice to take over months before. This lead to iMartinez coming in as a trophy winning manager, who after a promising first season, was revealed to be not up for the job. He left the club on a downward slide that we are still recovering from. Koeman showed some promise in his first season which was quickly undone in the second. Silva's appointment was poor when you look back on it, but from March onwards last season there were signs we had turned a corner. You could see early this season that run of form was not a true sign of the teams quality.

One of the ways we have of trying to attract better quality players is to offer big wages, long term deals. We can't offer players European football, chances of winning trophies or the chance to play at a state of the art stadium, so we offer big wages and 4 and 5 year deals to attract players we hope to improve us. Had we been investing our money wisely at the start of the Premier League era we may not have fallen so far behind the top clubs. We were founder members of the Premier League when the big money TV deals started to arrive. Instead there was little or no investment in the clubs infrastructure, apart from the odd lick of paint at the ground and a fleet of new lawn mowers.

The club identity, as you described above, has deteriorated over a long spell of time, and there are a lot of people had parts to play in its demise.
The bits in bold are going to have the brown stuff hitting the fan as far as @davek is concerned.
72 points and all that

The proof is in the pudding. Over four years have elapsed and we are in a worse position than when he took over.

As yet the stadium and fantasy. It's been over two years since we reserved the land at Bramley Moore. We have nice images of what it might look like but that's it.

Moshiri is nothing without usmanov and he's clearly drip feeding money to moshiri disguised as sponsorship.

But what if arsenal becomes available? Or another club that Usmanov decides to buy?

We are struggling financially as it is re the accounts. We have no funding for the fantasy stadium so clearly can't afford that either. Brands has come out and said basically there's no money for players unless we sell and rubbished ideas of spending 60 mill on players.

If it all comes together it would be great, yeah. But it's just grand designs right now with little evidence of things actually moving.
You are really worried at this stage aren't you

I'm sure @davek is actually a middle-aged woman going through the change you know.

Let me explain:
  1. Nothing is ever good enough
  2. Is always right - end of
Is that realy your best rebuttal to my pointing out what fools the board played everyone in that AGM by deflecting away from their governance catastrophe and prodding the fanbase in the direction of some 'kin nonsensical promise of a £30M giveaway by "Uncle Uzzi"?

I understand what's happening here: no one likes to be told they're getting the piss ripped out of them...even when it's true.

But anyway, "Uncle Uzzi's not arsed lad"....etc etc...

EVENING TOFFEE

I told everybody in the Summer that we were skint, but you all wanted new signings, you cant have new signings without massive loses, imagine how much you would have fumed if Moshiri came out in the Summer and said we couldnt spend cos we had no money.

In fairness to him the edit did mention your dried up fanny and hot flushes.

As opposed to us being told that now.

Hahahahaha lol at the clubs crying over it.

You can 100% put your money on it being the clubs that currently have the biggest commercial sponsorships.

Find out who it is then get Denise to do the shush gesture at their execs when they come goodison,

I would be very annoyed if one of them is Arsenal (it will be) after we've given them over 50mil for their bench warmers.
There's no clubs crying over a 30 million deal, you pay that for an average championship player these days, it's just a Daily Mail RS supporting Journalist stirring sh1t..

No, that's the wrong analysis. We could have signings and we DID have signings...they were just tripe signings. And that's down to that Dutch helmet you worship.
