Aaronson, Pulisic and Reyna all work plenty hard enough while actually being near the level of the teams we'll be playing.
Not arguing with you because I definitely agree he is limited. But there is space on the squad for someone who takes chasing lost causes to the next level is my point, and he definitely is a level above in that department.

Still don't think Gregg is a good coach tactically. Good recruiter though

We keep changing things. There is no set style here. For a stretch we decide we want to become Germany, then we change to full on 10 men back, then Arenas comes in and its electric football, now Berhalter has his thing which I guess is possession. Then he's gonna get axed after the WC and we'll decide we'll try to ape Holland or something.

Then there is CONCACAF, say we could be a good counter squad, we have young legs but not the smartest or not really technical players so it might work. Only like Mexico we can't play that and develop that style at all because the confed is gutter trash.

I think the biggest key for the US going into 2026 is finding a good system that can handle the crap CONCACAF sides that sit deep and better sides that we'll have to beat to win a World Cup knockout match without having to radically change everything. I think the best example of that is what Conte used to do with Italy. It's funny you mention the Netherlands because Van Gaal has been good at this too. I think our version would have to be 4-3-3 but finding a way to have an attacking set up and a deeper counter based one from the same shell would allow us to actually go far.

I always thought we should have threw a bunch of money at Conte when he was available.

I appreciate that this is an opportunity to give the other guys a game but that lineup will not be making it on to my TV over the Finals tonight. Hopefully it's a nice easy win
