I have message you today rafuh.Go away you
Shouldn't be underestimated that the USA have 3 English players in their team. Quite a big contributor to their improvement IMORobinson is English fam.
I think it had much more to do with the fact that we labored through qualifying out of region in which we are head and shoulders more talented than every team aside from Mexico. We went into the final day with a legit chance of missing out again, and the run-up to the tournament wasn’t much better, although after the results the past few weeks, a draw with Saudi Arabia and loss to Japan aren’t quite as bad as we thought. So what's the problem with Berhalter then? From your 3 matches so far it looks like he's got you quite well set-up?
Ah interesting. Hopefully it’s a learning experience for him and he fully commits to doing what is needed in the futureApparently the team vote was 13 to 12 to have him stay on. Pretty extreme.
he said the US "had a player that was clearly not meeting expectations on and off the field. One of 26 players, so it stood out. As a staff, we sat together for hours deliberating what we were going to do with this player. We were ready to book a plane ticket home, that's how extreme it was."
Sources: US almost sent Reyna home from WC
United States midfielder Giovanni Reyna was almost sent home from the World Cup in Qatar due to a lack of effort in training, sources told ESPN.www.espn.com
Personally I think this goes a layer deeper. Gregg isn't the brightest mind of all time but to assume he wasn't conscious that his comments were going to be leaked is a bit of a stretch. Especially when the Athletic basically had the story with similar opinions sourced (I would expect from folks in some way in federation or coaching staff). To me Gregg realized he was under fire for the Reyna stuff and tried to establish a coherent narrative to caste him in a better light as he is debated staying on. With the out and defense of saying it was not supposed to leak and assuming that Gio wouldn't respond.Personally think Berhalter letting this get out should end his time as coach. I get he said it where it wasn't supposed to leak but that won't matter. The players are going to question it when it came out with his name attached. If the Athletic story with a bunch of not for attribution information does it whatever. But now you've got to go into the locker room with a bunch of guys who know for a fact you've been airing behind closed doors information in public. He's got to be done.
Very good post.Personally I think this goes a layer deeper. The problem is he didn't think it through. For starters it's blatant his endgame, and second not enough noise to drown out the inconsistencies. No one viably should believe he didn't know his comments would be leaked. And if so ignorance isn't really an excuse. Especially when he has lied to the public on internal matters in the past. Reyna topped it off with a well said statement that does seem the most logical explanation.
Short of it is he CANNOT stay.
The foundation is decent but the depth is not. Frankly going into a tournament and telling a clearly decent player he's not likely to feature much (if Reyna is to be believed) is poor management of a necessary group of players. You can't have Reyna not bought in.Very good post.
In terms of available players, I think the foundation is decent now, but we will need big improvements in terms of squad building and tactics to make the next step.
Gregg has seemingly fallen out with quite a few players and, to be frank, doesn’t have the reputation where that can be allowed to continue.
You can, if and only if you deliver. Had he been right about shunting Reyna aside, with the United States having a functional attack against the Dutch before he finally brought Reyna on, the situation looks very different. It looks like an acknowledgement of fact from Berhalter's side, and sour grapes from Reyna's. It's still poor form, but Berhalter can argue he's only clearing the air with respect to a cat already out of the bag.The foundation is decent but the depth is not. In 6 more years your team will look even better still in all likelihoodHighlights of the USA vs Argentina match where we got battered in the 2016 Copa America popped up on my youtube recommended videos. Here was the US team that day:

Feel like it is worth keeping in perspective how far the US team has come even if we don't totally believe in certain aspects of where they might be going. We're in good shape.
